General Description: The Loan Operations Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of a caseload of moderate to high level of complexity loan files including commercial, mortgage, and consumer installment loans while ensuring that assignments are completed according to established work flow, procedures, and regulations. The Loan Operations Specialist is also responsible for assisting in maintaining the efficiency, organization, and procedural aspects of loan operations and will serve as the primary backup to the Loan Operations Lead.

Essential Duties:

• Responsible for processing the bank’s most complex commercial, residential, and consumer installment loans from set-up to closing by verifying, compiling and entering borrower information into loan processing systems while maintaining a high level or efficiency and organization.

• Maintains strict compliance with all applicable federal & state regulations and bank policy.

• Serves as primary backup to the Loan Operations Lead, assisting in verifying accuracy of loan documentation and processing, identifying technological, organizational, procedural, and educational improvements for loan administrative staff and systems, and monitoring loan administrative staff on deficiencies, errors, new processes, procedures, regulation, etc..

• Records data to track the status of loans in processing. Creates and clears documentation exceptions detected and other error resolutions within the review process.

• Assists in compiling departmental training manuals and periodically updates them for accuracy.

• Reviews various reports, loan payments, general ledger accounts etc. for accuracy and resolves any issues.

• Maintains and monitors PMI, escrow, and other accounts as assigned.

• Interacts with the lending officers to obtain information from the borrower and to seek clarification about documents in the loan file as required.

• Contacts specified companies to obtain property abstracts, surveys, and appraisals. Addresses discrepancies in the file and determines the appropriate solution, as applicable.

• Responsible for providing strong and clear communication to processors, underwriters, lenders, other mortgage professionals and borrowers regarding documents needed for loan files to ensure quick turnaround time.

• Responsible for handling non-public information (NPI) about borrowers.

• Expected to adhere to all applicable internal policies and procedures, and protect the confidentiality of borrower information.

• Follows BSA polices and procedures as applicable to job functions.

• Performs administrative duties such as faxing, photocopying, filing, scanning & indexing, as required, by the supervisor.

• May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications [Knowledge (Education), Skills and Abilities]

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in loan processing and/or loan documentation review and compliance is required.

• Working knowledge of Fiserv’s Precision banking platform and Wolters Kluwer Compliance One Mortgage and Lending software is preferred.

• Ability to read & interpret complex information, such as loan presentations.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to balance several ongoing projects simultaneously.

• Demonstrates analytical, decision-making, and effective problem solving skills.

• Must be competent in the use of personal computer systems, internet applications, electronic mail, and various windows based software applications to include, but not limited to, banking application, word processing, and spreadsheet software.

• Honors State Bank philosophies, policies and expectations regarding core values, customer service, human resource policies and code of conduct and ethics.

• Demonstrates acceptable personal financial responsibility and be bondable.

Physical Requirements

• Extensive reading and computer use is expected more than 50% of the time. Receiving detailed information verbally, in person, in writing, and by telephone is essential.

• Physical and mental ability to perform the essential functions of the job as listed.

• Able to regularly stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.

• Able to verbally communicate effectively with others.

• Regular attendance is necessary and essential to this position

This position will have no direct supervisory duties.
